Dr Blancquaert’s research focus is the grape ecophysiology – berry growth, composition and quality. She also studies the impact of disease on grape berry metabolites . Furthermore she has an interest in the sustainable cultivation of grapes and wine adhering to the 3P’s (People, Plant & Profit) of sustainability as a result of global change.
Erna is a graduate from the Department of Viticulture, Stellenbosch University. She completed her BSc (Viticulture & Oenology) in 2005, her MSc in Viticulture in March 2008 and her PhD in Viticulture in December 2015. She is currently a lecturer in Viticulture.
